Martin was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and raised in Charlotte. After attending Charlotte Latin School through 9th grade, he graduated from Myers Park High School and is a 1992 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (BA, Psychology). He later received his MBA from the McColl School of Business at Queens University.
Martin began his career in executive recruiting in 1997, working with two retained search firms before joining Cameron Carmichael as a Partner in 2011. Martin has led and conducted hundreds of engagements for clients in a variety of industries. He has built a track record of success working across all industry sectors served by Cameron Carmichael, with a particular focus supporting clients within the healthcare, private equity, family-owned/closely held businesses, and nonprofit sectors.
In addition to his professional activities, Martin serves on the Board of Visitors of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, as Board Chairman of The Dilworth Center, executive committee member for the Myers Park High School Mustang Club and is a member of the School Leadership Team. Martin and his wife, Amy, currently serve as co-Chairs for the Parents Fund at the University of Virginia and serve on the Parent Leadership Council of the Curry School of Education at UVA. Martin is past-President of the Bridge Foundation as well as the Administrative Board and Staff Parish Relations Committee of Myers Park United Methodist Church. He has previously served in leadership positions on the boards of the McColl School of Business Graduate Alumni Association, the Family Center, ArtsTeach and the Arts & Science Council’s Annual Campaign Cabinet.
Martin’s spare time is spent traveling with his wife and two college-aged children, fishing with his son, playing guitar and performing with his band, as well as running and cross-fit.
