Karen is President of Karen Geiger & Associates, a consulting firm founded in 1993 and specializing in leadership and organizational development, with an emphasis on diversity and inclusion. From 1994 to 2013, she was a member of the Leadership Faculty of the McColl School of Business at Queens University of Charlotte. She holds a PhD in Leadership and Change from Antioch University; a Master’s in Education from Indiana University and a BA in Sociology from the University of Rochester. Her dissertation research focused on how White and Black women navigate race as they pursue social justice, and she co-authored an article in 2013 on “the role of societal privilege in the definitions and practices of inclusion”. Before starting her own business, Karen was a Senior Vice President at Bank of America Corporation, where she held positions as Director of Corporate Training and Development, Director of Career Planning and Director of Work/Family Programs.
Karen has presented at the International Equality Diversity and Inclusion Conference, Academy of Management, and has served as a member of the International Leadership Association. She was Chair of the Board of Directors at Dore Academy from 2007 – 2012, is a past President of Women Executives, and has been on the Boards of the Mecklenburg Partnership for Children, Success by Six, Community School of the Arts, Charlotte Mecklenburg Education Foundation, Carolinas Diversity Council, and others. She is happily married and the mother of two sons and enjoys spending as much time as possible with her granddaughters.
